3 Tips For Avoiding Neck Pain

3 Tips For Avoiding Neck Pain

  1. Stay connected to your posture. Most people develop neck pain because of bad posture. Check-in with yourself throughout the day. Are your shoulders back? Are you sticking your neck out to look at your computer? Have you been stuck at your computer for longer than an hour without getting up to move around? The more aware you are of your posture, the better chance you have to avoid neck pain. Added bonus: Pay attention to your posture when you are working/browsing/texting on your phone as well.
  2. Stretch what feels tight. If you feel your neck starting to tense up, do some neck stretches to help alleviate the tension. If you don’t get ahead of it, the tightness in the muscles will build and begin to cause changes that can lead to chronic, long-term changes to your spine and neck.
  3. See a Chiropractor! At my office in Chicago we have great success helping people not only feel better, but we also help prevent neck pain by addressing the underlying issues. We practice corrective chiropractic care here at Bourdage Chiropractic, which means that we are all about structure. When the body has proper structure it can function and feel it’s best!
