It’s time to start preparing for winter. For many, the winter months become a time of hibernation, inactivity, excess consumption and unhealthy habits. This does not have to be the case. You are still either creating health or destroying health no matter what the weather is doing. Winter is a great time to continue to build upon your health.
A study published in 2004 in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society came to the conclusion that “Older men and women with hyperkyphotic posture have higher mortality rates.” So I am not overstating the fact that bad posture can kill you!
It’s that time of year again. The weather is warming up, things are blooming, and your allergies are kicking! Well it doesn’t have to be that way. Many people in our office have experienced the allergy relieving effects of having their spine adjusted. Many other people are skeptical, and they ask, “how does having my spine adjusted help me with my allergies?”
I am seeing more and more people come into my office with neck pain and other symptoms associated with having too much stress on the neck and upper back. Things like headaches, fatigue, allergies, sinus issues and migraines. What concerns me, is the people coming in with these symptoms are younger than ever before.
While reducing your stress is important, it is not what is MOST important. Nobody has zero stress. Stress is all around us and it’s not going away any time soon. What is MOST important is how we respond to stress.
Many of my 50 and over patients have voiced that they expect to shrink or get shorter as they age. This is more commonly voiced from women than men since women are at a greater risk to lose height after menopause. This phenomenon, however, is completely avoidable if the right steps are taken.
