Chiropractic and Working Out

So you want to start a new workout program? Maybe you are finally ready to jump in and give Crossfit a try? Or, is this the year you commit to running your first marathon? These are all great goals, and we are here to support you and help you get there. All of these require that you take great care of your body and ensure it is working at its best so you can perform at your highest level. So, you may be wondering how chiropractic and working out are related? We’ll discuss in this article!

Exercise & Chiropractic

Most all professional sports teams and high level athletes have chiropractors at their disposal. Why should it be any different for you?

Exercise of any sort is stress to the body. It is a good stress, but stress none-the-less. The more intense the exercise is (ie: crossfit) the more you need to pro-actively keep your body in good working order. Chiropractic helps to alleviate spinal stress therefore keeping your body working in an efficient manner. When there are imbalances or restrictions in spinal movement that is when injuries happen. You can have these restrictions in movement and not even feel them. That is where the danger lies, because you are performing exercises in a compromised fashion which always leads to an injury.

This is why athletes at all levels get adjusted frequently. It is not because they are in pain, it is because they want to stay pain free and be able to get the most out of their training.

Another benefit of chiropractic adjustments is that the nervous system has less stress on it when the spine is in proper alignment. This allows for things like mental clarity, faster response time, quicker reflexes, and overall better performance! Who couldn’t benefit from that?

Listen, there is no reason you should treat your body any differently than professional athletes do. If you committed to running a marathon this year I know that is important to you. If you are starting a new workout program, I know that is important to you. Why are you deciding to do these things? Keep those reasons in mind and make sure you are taking the proper steps to keep you going and keep you “in the game” so to speak. Come in for a spinal checkup and let us help you stay in the best possible shape!
