Let’s talk about everyone’s favorite topic… Glutes! That’s right, those muscles on your backside that are supposed to be strong, active and well developed.
I say supposed to be, because for most people this is not the case. The average American spends 13 hours a day sitting, which leads to under-active, weak, and flabby glute muscles. Your butt muscles are the strongest and most powerful muscles in our body, but after sitting on them all day they quickly become weak, they forget how to work and develop glute amnesia!
A strong butt provides a base of support for your hips, pelvis and lower back. Without a strong butt these areas of your body become compromised, unstable and often times injured. If your butt muscles aren’t working, your back now has to carry more of the load during everyday activities. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be putting MORE stress on my back!
If you are having back pain, hip pain, sciatica or sacroiliac pain it is important to make sure you are performing butt strengthening exercises to help you not only feel better, but to make sure these areas don’t become even more injured over time.
If you are in the Chicago area, come see me at Bourdage Chiropractic and I will help get you feeling better and save those glutes from developing amnesia!
