We offer both chiropractic adjustments and massages at our office. Naturally, we get questions from people asking which is better, massage or chiropractic? We’ll discuss the role, as well as the benefits, of both chiropractic and massages in today’s article!
Like Peanut Butter & Jelly
Chiropractic adjustments and massages go together like peanut butter and jelly. That is why at our office we offer both services to help you achieve the best results efficiently.
Chiropractic adjustments work on restoring normal motion and positioning of the spinal bones to optimize the function of your nervous system. Massages help to relax any areas of stress or tension in your muscles.
When your bones are out of alignment your muscles can be affected, and when your muscles are tight it can cause spinal misalignments. The bones and muscles are so intricately connected you have to work on both to get the best results.
Which Comes First?
A lot of people will ask me, well what came first, the tight muscles or the subluxation (misalignment)? This is like the old chicken or egg argument. There is no right answer, it can happen either way. What is most important is that we fix both!
The massages we provide in our office are very different then your typical massage. We provide a therapeutic type of massage, which means that the pressure is oftentimes deeper then it would be during a spa-like relaxing massage. The purpose of a therapeutic massage is to break up any areas of scar tissue or trigger points to help facilitate the healing process.
Our massage therapists and Doctor work together and share clinical information so we ensure that all treatments provided by each provider work in conjunction with each other allowing us to obtain the most efficient results.
